1. That I would be visible in all of the world wherever there is internet. For some reason I thought I was still speaking to my class room and immediate friends.
2. That people could laugh at me if they wanted. Sometimes they do but I mostly get compliments, thank goodness.
3. That everyone uses their blogs however they want in different ways to represent their own individual style – some have comments, some have books, some have lists, some have videos. Each person can make their blog completely personalized.4. That the blogger community is extremely supportive. If you need help with anything there are endless forums to help you answer your questions. Or, you can post a new one. I did and got tons of quick answers.
5. That words are important. And can save lives.
6. That lots of people make money with their blogs.
7. That it takes more time and dedication that I thought. But like most projects the more you put into it the more you get out of it.
8. That I ♥ blogging.
9. That 97 percent of people want to write a book.
10. What’s a widget. I thought a widget was that wooden triangle piece you slip under a door to hold it open. Boy was a surprised. I have since discovered that widgets are the spice of life. You can see all my widgets on my right column. They are things like being able to see your categories, most popular posts and facebook links.
11. What’s a theme? Believe it or not, you get FREE themes. Themes are the overall looks of your site and you can choose whichever one suits you, just like a jacket. You can even change as often as you want. I like mine for now but you never know. People love new looks. And it’s free.
12. That blogging would bring me increased confidence just like overcoming a fear. I’m a blogging fool.
What about you? What are your favorite widgets? Why do you blog? Why don’t you blog? What are your favorite blogs and why?

When I started to blog I didn’t know a blogroll from an eggroll. I’m still not very tech savvy, but I’m learning.
I blog to find all the cool people, and it’s working.

lol Dr. B. I see you not only figured out a widget, a whatsnot, but also your name is linked to your site. Well done my friend.

Strangely, the attraction in your writing is because you’re writing to your intimate and well-known friends and acquaintances.
Working on your material right now, will start appearing the Monday after next.
Thanks Dave,
Thanks for stopping by here and the compliments. I checked out your facebook profile and it looks like you are very well loved. I’m so looking forward to working with you.

Had I not seen your blog start day up there I would have never believed you to be a beginner. Then again, 15 diaries in less than 15 years is no small feat. I never could keep a diary thinking my life was too boring. Looking back it would seem there is something to be gained regardless.
I have met some wonderful and inspiring, and some wonderfully inspiring, people through blogging. There are just not enough hours in the day. I will be back to read more, promise!
Hi Julie,
I agree. When we first start blogging, no one tells us we need to also learn the blogging language. Talk about confusing. I remember learning about widgets, plugins, SEO, HTML, CSS and all that other good stuff. Here I am almost three years later and I still bang my head against the wall from time to time as I struggle to “get it”.
But, like you, I also love blogging. My only regret is I didn’t start it sooner.
As for writing a book, I’m in the 3% bracket. That’s not something I aspire to although I have been asked to put some of my blogging lessons into ebook form – which someday I may.
Happy Blogging!
I started a blog because I enjoy cooking and was visiting blog after blog of some very talented people cooking in their own homes. I had found myself in a rut and regretted making dinner for my family each night. I was cooking the same thing over and over and it was frustrating. I figured the best way to motivate myself to get my family to try something different, and to spice things up in my own kitchen, was to start a blog and post about my daily makings. It worked.
One of the things I love most about blogging is that it is something that I can truly call “My Own.” Being a wife and a mother makes it hard sometimes to have some time for yourself. It’s content is something I can control and I can have fun with it.
I’m far from a “techie” at anything. It took me too many embarassing hours to figure out how to add a link in my post. But I figured it out all by myself, lots of trial and error, and now I can do it in mere seconds. As for the rest of the stuff, I pretty much just pray daily that I don’t screw up something major on my own blog because chances are I won’t be able to fix it. And as for HTML (Which I personally named “Help This Mindless Loser”) I can’t even go there. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.
Great list. I want to learn how to make money and blog at the same time!
I’m going to show you. It’s easy.
Julie
Found you this morning thanks to Michelle and Facebook.
What a brilliant blog which I have enjoyed reading.
Mine simply was originally a Newsletter that I dragged into the 21st century to keep in touch with family and friends.
Thanks LindaLouMac,
I’m happy to have you here and I hope you come back for more. I’ve JUST finished my ebook Zero to Blog and I must admit it looks great. I have to get it up and available. Michelle and her goats are pretty amazing. I feel like the sun is shining on me.
