As you might have seen on the news, a lovely volcano has decided to spew her lid and throw all of us mere mortals a dazzling show of integrity and strength last Wednesday. If you watch the news, they will describe it as crippling, chaotic or a disasterous. You name it. Most airports are still closed. I believe a slight percentage of planes are taking off again today.
From what I understand, there have been very few if not no flights in Europe for the last five days.
I’m just a little blog writer from Italy, not a real journalist. I can just tell you what I see is going on through my eyes and from my perspective. The worst case scenarios I have come across are a friend stranded alone in Italy and another one hoping to come back to Europe.
I like to imagine what it must feel like to be away from home and not be able to get home. Do you know that feeling you get when you walk in the house after a long trip, and you just think, I’m home? I think that our friends who can’t catch a flight due to all of the airport closures. It must be truly devastating. If not, rather bothersome.
Are we doing all we can do to help them out? Do you know anyone personally effected by the airport closures in Italy?
I am trying to think positively as most people approach the question of alternative forms of transportation. People are looking towards boats, cruises, trains, taxis, military vessels and rental cars. I think our best bet is if we could all just give our friends who are away from home a little bit of love and support. Let them know they are not alone. Let them know if they need a place to stay, they can stay with us.
Let them know we are here to help. All is not lost. It’s all going to work out for the best. I just know it.
Personally, I’m living out my bucket list a little bit louder. All of our days are numbered, so why not live life loud now? HELLO!
Yesterday I had the most wonderful day that included everything from working at two schools, helping kids, visiting friends, arranging for baseball sponsors and laughter. My highlight was at around 6p.m. watching the sunset surrounded by all of my friends.
I noticed how the paint I had in the garage I used for the benches at the baseball field looks so good. There are nine benches. It’s same color as terra cotta. We are all working so hard for our kids.
I took my little son’s hand, and his girl friend’s hand in the other and we walked five minutes for an ice cream. The little girl looked at me with the most beautiful sweetest childlike eyes and told me in Italian, I like you.
I melted there and I knew my life was complete.
I hope this post finds you happy and in awe of nature.
Much love from Italy.
I ♥ my readers.
