  1. I always love this post. It is like an old friend. I remember remarking on this or another post of your once, and you told me to check the dates. I’d never thought of re-posting until then, and I think I’ve only done it twice. but this list is something which is good to be reminded of regularly :)

    • Mr. Wells, I like to bring some of my favorite posts to the front every once in a while.

I appreciate your support. Hope all is well with you!

  2. Grat thoughts Ms. Julie..thanks for sharing

  3. Anonymous

Thanks for re-posting this Julie…gentle reminders are often just what we need to get back on track…so today I will pick at least 3 things off the list… :)

  4. Here I am again. THi8s is an excellent list. One of the sad things about Blogging is that todays post, regardless of it’s quality, soon becomes ancient history. You re-posting this excellent list helps remind me what’s important

  5. When I see this post it always makes me smile

  6. Love this Julie!! Thanks for the inspiration xoxoxoxo

  9. It’s making me smile when I see your posts pop up again. It’s a very good way to get a bit of the rest while the grey matter produces some fresh thoughts.

  10. Nicolas Micouin

    Nice lines…
By the way, have you, by chance, been in Paris around 20 years ago (my God !!) and have you spent a few days in my appartment while I was away (I remember you’ve been working for a short period in Paris)? Was it you?
… That would be so funny

  11. Love your blog and what you have to say in it! So positive. Love it!!!

  12. K

I love making lists! :) Lots of fun ideas on your list, Julie. I’ve been trying to do a lot of #38. Each day is a gift. :)

  13. Being your own best friend is very important, and means you will never be lonely

  14. Thanks Habiba.

I’m happy to amaze. It’s just a little bit of magic I like to throw there. You’ll have read my story about my grandmother if you want to learn where I get my positivity from. And my family too. And friends too. Sure. At a certain point in your life I think you just have to adapt a philosophy. Lately mine is I’ll laugh in order not to cry. Although honestly I cry sometimes too.

    Thanks for the bear hug!

  15. I’m literally amazed at the sheer positivity of your thoughts, this post made me feel so good and light hearted!!! *bear HUG* :)
    stay blessed!

  16. I liked the one that said be your own friend. We always forget to do that.

Right now I hear water splashing, smell lemons, and feel my dog’s breath on me :)

    • Yes. That’s an important lesson to learn. We come into this world alone and we leave it alone. Hopefully we pass it in good company with a laugh. :) Ha ha on your dog’s breath. You’re lucky. You can do #25!

  17. I enjoyed chewing over this list.

    • Ahhhh! Thanks. You know how I love to see your little duck pop up on my comment list!

  18. 47. Write a message to Jaclyn Rae saying thank you for being there.

  19. I love, love, love this list!

    My favorite?

“Shine the light that God has given you.” :)

  20. Ciao Allessandra. I suppose I should also say Yasou. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I know your blog well. Of course, I remember it even with the other name. Both names are great. You are certainly right though when you say ‘La vita e’ bella!. I’m looking forward to your links on Italian lessons.

Those should be fun. I love languages.

  21. Ciao! Thanks for following me on Twitter, I am already a follower of yours! I checked out your youtube channel, it is great. I don’t have youtube, but if I get one I will subscribe to your channel. Very inspiring post! I love your new layout!!

P.S. I invite you to check out my Italian lessons I posted on my blog.

  22. Thanks Guyanne!

Your blogs posts are always delicous too. Full of style. Thanks for stopping by.

  23. This is so lovely!! Great post Julie :)

  24. Hi Julie,

I like your idea of doing that fun stuff – being a kid again.

I can hear the sound of a TV in the background, but more importantly, I’m smelling the lilacs I gathered from my garden yesterday.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. xo

    • Oh Barbara, aren’t lilacs beautiful? I can smell yours all the way over here.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  25. I can hear lawn mowers – the first dry day and the rain is coming back number of lawn mowers, I hear a car racing by, I hear the fan in the computer, I hear my stomach settling after supper. Now a motorcycle idling and pausing at it’s owner’s mailbox. Barking puppy with a real bark not a screech. Fingers tapping on the keyboard.

…and my heart saying thank you for this lovely post. Enough said.

    • Oohhh! Lawn mowers. That’s a good sign. Especially mixed with rain. That can only mean growth and I like that.

I truly feel like you captured the moment with your words Patricia! Thanks for sharing that with me and my friends.

  27. decibelbelownormal

I can only hear the fan of my computer! I loves this list. I’m going to read it a few more times so I can try and memorise them!

    • God bless your new digs. It sounds like you are a fantstic writer with a great sense of humor. Keep us posted G.

  28. Jaclyn, right back atchya. Your blog is SO lovely. In fact, if you are reading these words friendly peeps I can highly suggest you stop on over at Jaclyn Rae’s blog just by clicking on her name will get you there. She’s got a lot of wisdom packed in there. Just click on her name.

  29. Julie, I love your blog SO MUCH! You are such an inspiring woman :)

  30. Thank you.

  31. Thanks Mummy Zen.

Today I’m listening instead of talking. I can hear the sound of the air swooshing through the vent as I’m fireside.

    Hope you are well.

I agree with you that slowing down is a good thing to practice year round.

  32. Thanks!

    • I realize I never really stopped to listen to the sounds around me till ‘your assignment’. It felt like meditation and really good :)

  33. I’ll be returning to this list when I need inspiration :)

  34. There are so many things I loved on your list I couldn’t pick any faves. When I read your posts I hear your voice – in my mind it’s a patient voice that calms people.

I do love that quote from Gandhi. I have never sold anything on ebay before. It sounds rewarding and something I should do in my quest towards a minimalist lifestyle.

I am having insomnia, but I’m glad because I got to read this lovely post. It made me feel inspired.

It’s so quiet, just the way I like it, in the wee hours of the morning in Singapore. I can hear the whirling of the ceiling fan and the buzzing of the air-conditioner. I need them both because it is just really hot here.

I also hear the sounds in my head – my own thoughts as I write. As I listen again, I hear the ticking of my S$2.50 clock from Ikea. The time doesn’t run very well, but I love the design and price. I better go to bed now. I hope you’re having a wonderful day Julie :)

I hope I passed the assignment teacher ;-)

The rain is pouring. We wait for my boy to get off work to start family Christmas. (he is a paramedic) I’m at my morning mandolin session. I send out ‘What Child is This?’ in the key of Am. Sing along. Merry Christmas.

    Dr. B

    • Doctor B!

Thanks for the visit. I’m always happy to see you here. You take good care of your patients. I’m also so proud to know a down to earth doctor who has written and published a book. That’s too cool.

Thanks for your comment and enjoy your time with your family.

  37. JeffR

    Yes happy holidays as well!

  38. JeffR

I find it hard to believe this isnt the most popular self improvement blog out there yet.

  39. Tomas Z.

Cool and funny tips! Have you read “Life’s Little Instruction Book” by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.? I like the way you write and you have another regular visitor in me!

    Tomas Z.

    • I did look into that at your suggestion and it looks like a great book to have on your coffee table. I like the cover and wisdom too.

      Thanks for sharing.

Its amazing how the simplest of things in life are always the most pleasurable. You must be a wonderful teacher being who you are. How old are the kids you teach, anyway?
