 Art is c❀❀l.

This post is dedicated to you Mika, Mom, Michelle and Janie→.

Hi friends.

I’m going to share with you today whay I have learned about selling artwork online and affiliate sales. I feel like a bit embrarrassed because I am so late to the game.

I put it some of my art for sale on ebay and sold quite a few, okay, 12 paintings so I thought, you should figure out how to sell your artwork online.

I did as any of you would have done. I googled sell artwork online. Then I started reading everything I could on the subject.

Art is c❀❀l

You get your own decent artwork up for sale. I’m not saying I’m a pro at this at all because I’m just learning by doing. It is exciting to see that someone buys your work on a mousepad.

I opened two stores here and here. You should do the same. Then you save your artwork as a high quality image and upload it to the website.

If you need any help selling your artwork online, let me know and I’ll help you through it. Also, if any of you pros out there have any tips you feel like throwing over to a newbie like myself, I’d sincerely appreciate that.

Since posting this particular post, I’ve had three real life friends ask me how I am doing it and my husband too. I am figuring it out. I want to give you exact instructions, so please bear with me.

Clicking here will take you to my zazzle recommendation.

2. Choose products you’d like to like to sell. You’ll add the code to your store name after a ?rf= If you refer someone to buy something from your site you get a referral fee of 15%. This used to be 7%. You get a code and you type it into the product you like.  Then you get referral credit. I’ll give you an example.

Say you want to buy this cute little daisy coffee mug. The URL is:

All you have to do is type ?rf=238662101328135626 after the url when you link it. I used my personal code as an example. You’d insert your code instead. Click here to see. The Url that will earn you 15 percent is ready to link.

Art Contest

That's my picture on the right. I participated and won fifth in a local art contest yesterday.

Hi guys. How do you know when I’m going to post? I don’t even tell anyone on facebook when I post but I tell you my stats went up five times when I got back from my vacation. How do you know? Isn’t that weird how people know when you write and then they come visit without me telling anyone? hmmm.

That’s a good thing! It means people actually are reading this. I know you must be tired of reading my automatically generated old posts. I needed a vacation.

Big big news!

Yesterday I participated in a town event. It was an art contest where you have to draw a picture. The way it works is you go in the morning with a blank piece of paper, pay the entrance fee, about $10, you get a coupon towards dinner.

Then you have until 3p to paint your picture, turn it in by 4p max and judging takes place at 5p. It was a nervous exciting day because I get scared to paint and be judged although I am learning to overcome those fears. It helped to have children in the garden with me as I painted and my ipod playing music.

What the mind can conceive the body can acheive.

There's my painting.

Music ROCKS by the way. Amazing how it can transport you.

So, I’m painting in the garden, I finish the piece when three of my friends decide to write nice things about me. I tell you, they came in as a ROCKSTARS because it was just what I needed at the moment where I literally was flipping out over colors. I mean I have no idea what I’m doing painting. Especially a landscape.

Still, I did it. I framed the picture using an Ikea frame I had on the wall. I took it in and they put it up for display immediately with a number on it. Then this guy walks over and starts taking pictures of it. I hid in the background on a chair. I ran into a friend too, thank goodness. I didn’t tell him I was competing whilst we were chatting.

The judges come by and confer. Then as they were putting up the nine awards out of 25 entries, they came right next to mine and attached a number nine on the painting to my left. Then these two ladies sifted through the numbers looking at my painting and looking back at their list, then they walked away.

I wanted to grab my painting and run out before anyone recognized me.

Then they came back and stuck a number five on it! I was thrilled. I won a bunch of stuff, that included a huge salame! ha ha ha. We are in Italy!  A salame. How classic.

Better light.

Better light.

The HANDS’ DOWN best part was as I took my painting to go home when a man nearby stops me and asks me if I was the author. I said yes. Then he introduced himself as one of the judges and he said to me the magical words:

I thought this should have won first prize. I tried to convince the other judges. He said to me, The others are good work, what to expect in a contest, but your work had that something extra.

He called it a ‘hand’ in Italian, or mano. I think I get that from my mom. I am sure of it.

I came home and celebrated with family and friends. Great day.

The end.

Abruzzo ~ fresh on my mind.

It was super sweet of my husband to organize this family trip to Abruzzo. It took us four hours without traffic to get there and five hours with traffic to come home. We stayed for a week and well, the last evening which was our wedding anniversary celebration was nothing less than magical.

Do you know that moment when you are relaxed eating and all of the sudden you see two guys walk out carrying speakers and amplifiers and you think, Oh. My. Gosh. There goes my quiet dinner?

Well, lucky for us, the guys put my favorite two cds on at a low volume and I loved it. They were Michael Buble and Pino Daniele. The evening literally was an evolution from us finding the place, parking, being the first to sit down, as the kids immediately found a place to play as they ran off towards a jumpy bouncy thing that later filled with more kids.

Then, we walked past a sign that said Oggi Sposi and we realized there was a wedding in progress inside the restaurant. We were outside by the pool with a view of the Mediterranean.

The food was good, our waitress was adorable and sweet. We took some pictures, watched people and just talked for the longest time.

What a special evening.

Then as if by magic, or on cue, out walks the bride down to the pool with all of her friends.

They were a very beautiful couple and it was quite a glamorous wedding. I noticed that the groom was having a hard time standing up as he had probably been celebrating for the entire day. His friends thought it would be funny to undress him and throw him into the pool.

Guess what? It was. He was smiling. His new bride was smiling. For a minute I let my heart get carried away into the celebration. Weddings truly can be something magical. I know mine was. We laughed. We danced. I walked into visit room number two because it was raining, and we all had moved inside.

Inside room number two, my husband’s friends all started smiling, clicking their glasses with silver, toasting me, and chanting, ‘Viva la sposa’, meaning Here’s to the bride.

Flowers

One of my paintings. Flowers

>I tell you, people still come up to me and say it was the most memorable wedding they have ever been to. It was. 20 or so Americans came to visit. My dad made friends with Vitmar. My dad still asks me how he Vitmar is when he calls.

Abruzzo.

Yes. Our vacation. It was absolutely lovely. We spent our time between restaurants, the jacuzzi, swim pool, shopping and the beach.

I feel at this moment very lovely, lucky and blessed. I’m trying to hold on to the feeling as long as I can, as real life faces me. As they say here, I’ve recharged my batteries.

As always, I hope this post finds you lovely, lucky and in love.

Julie

Real live post. How. blessed. is. my. life.

Hello friends.

Warning: This is not an epic post!

How are you? So VERY nice to see you. Thank you for stopping by!

First off, a big huge thank you to Michelle at Bleeding Espresso for publishing my August in Italy article.

Are you tired of reading old posts from me that I have put on the front page of my blog? Have you noticed that I have been doing that? I have. What I do is go over to the right side of my screen where it says visibility, public, edit and set a date for my updates to post.

I did this for a week so I could take a blogging vacation. I chose three posts I liked and scheduled them every two days so perhaps you guys clicking over here would have something to read in my absence.

Coffee anyone?

Coffee anyone? What kind? I'll get you one.

I took a vacation with my family.

It was absolutely breath taking lovely and wonderful. At moments I truly wanted to pinch myself and ask if I deserved such a wonderful life. I don’t know why I feel this way.

Like I don’t deserve it! I give myself pep talks before I go, like all the world is mine to enjoy. Then I do and I laugh and it’s lovely. Then I look at the pictures and think

Oh. My. Gosh. How. blessed. is. my. life.

Can I, should I, share these pictures with my friends?! What will they think? What will their comments be? On a recent post I was pretty clear that I don’t take criticism well. In fact, the reason I don’t always blog is the fear of failure.

In fact, the one negative comment seems to always stick out, doesn’t it? I’m not going to write it though because I’m working really hard on focusing on the positive. Darn it. Now just thinking about it makes it true. Oh well.

Like I was saying I was looking at the pictures from my vacation trying to decide if I was going to share them or not because I don’t want to be judged. First thing I looked at was how I looked in my bathing suit. For half way through my life, I can’t complain.

I’ve been taking great care of myself lately with my diet, exercise and sleep. Three key factors to happiness if you ask me. But then again, did you?

ha ha!

I’m just joking.

I think hugs and kisses rate up there too.

Hey, guess what? I made my first tomato sauce from tomatoes from my garden. Now that is a big sentence for me. I am SO not a cook. I SO do NOT enjoy cooking. It’s very easy. It’s because I clean morning to night so cooking adds more work to my plate. I can hardly stand it.

Yes, please!

Yes, please!

Yet, I think a little hard work is worth the effort so I just do it. Plus, I’m trying to go the extra mile here and put in the extra work to my life to make it extra ordinary.

I’ve taken up cleaning with my ipod on. I can honestly say that’s added a great element to my life. I’ve been asked to not sing while doing so. :)

Sometimes, I’ve even been spotted dancing whilst cleaning.

hmmm.

Well, thank you for visiting for being my kind companionship over the last year and a half of blogging. Thank you readers for being kind in your comments.

Hope you are all well, lucky and in love. I hope this posts finds you with a little something extra in your life.

My latest painting.

My latest painting.

It’s all in a name.

Hi. Hello friends. Welcome back. New visitors. Well hello there to you too. Nice to see you here at my blog.

Write, right?

Write, right?

If you were wondering why I call it jbulie it’s because it’s my nickname.

Really my nickname is julie bulie.

It’s the name that used to make me cry as a child first donned on me by my sister.

When my friends heard it they had a good laugh and then it caught on and remained.

Sometimes it is shortened to jb.

How do you feel about nicknames? Do you have one? I love nicknames.

Do you remember the guy on tv called the copy guy?

If you didn’t see the skit, I believe it was Saturday Night Live, basically this guy goes over to make copies and his friend calls him a lot of names. He says, hows it going Joe? Joseph? Joe a rama? Joe a linga ding dong. And the guy gets mad and say, hey, it’s just Joe.

You want to know why my Grandpa was famous? For fixing things. They said, if Norman can't fix it, it can't be fixed.I’ll link it if I can find it.
Have you got a nickname? If so I’d love to hear the story how you got it.
I call a lot of my friends and family with nicknames.
I call my dad Pops.
The Birth of Venus

The Birth of Venus Botticelli Florence Uffizi

I call a lot of my friends Jay Jay. One of my blog friends BJ for BookJunkie.

Although now I think the blog is called Tiny Island.
I like names. It’s just playful. I’m just playing. I don’t mean to offend and hope I haven’t.

How about you? What do people call you and do you like it? Some people don’t like to be called Sweety.

I suppose it depends on the situation.

We come from a long line of a family of teachers. My mom was a teacher. My grandma was a teacher. My grandfather was a genius.

That’s just my opinion but I think it counts. I loved him so. What a funny man he was! I don’t know if he had a nickname. :)

In the mean time, as always, I hope this post finds you lovely, lucky and in love.

Beaching it in Italy lol:-)

♥ Be inspiring.

Once when my kids were little I took them to the beach on a vacation camping.

The following day, I drove back home defeated.

It’s been about three or four years since I have braved taking my kids to the beach on my own. Finally, I got some courage to spend a week seaside.

How did it go?

My friends on facebook are sending me messages hoping that I have survived. I am back at my computer and house alive, relaxed, tan, and feeling quite amazing actually.

I’m from southern California. I have been living in Italy for 15 or 16 years now. It’s so different. I know in my about Julie contact page I mentioned that after a while, the differences between the two countries, USA and Italy seem to mix, but since I just got back from the beach, I’m going to try to convey them to you here now.

Ready?

♥ I'm sending you a {big hug} ♥

California beach ~ wide, open, relaxing, breath taking, cold water, big waves, surfing, never ending horizon, beautiful sunsets, beach bike path on the sand.

Italian beach ~ semi crowded, clean, organized, rows of umbrellas and chaise lounges lined up like soldiers. Toys, families, hours on the sand, trampolines, jumpy jumpy things, slides and tons of food at organized hours. Kids free to play in an enclosed safe environment until late.

I just didn’t cook much. I went out for all of my meals which if you know is the same as admitting to sin in this country. We spent our days in the water, at the beach, taking long bike rides and playing in the park.

♥ Believe in yourself ~ give yourself a break. ♥

Italians love their food. In fact, I had home made sauce jarred in the fridge as well as home made pesto. It was perfect. I gave it to my neighbor. Please don’t tell my mother in law. She went to a lot of trouble to get that there for me. I just couldn’t get over the idea of having to wash dishes.

I read a lot.

I was an extra good vacationer.

I lied on my beach bed for hours. The kids played endlessly. They both made friends, came home sun kissed and lovely. We bought lots of toys and plan on going back if and when I find the courage.

I certainly missed my blog and facebook friends. I have an online community that has become a big part of my life.

Hope this post finds you happy, lovely and in love.

How about you?

How did you spend your holiday? Are you getting a vacation? What do you do to relax? What is the last book you read, and do you recommend it? What kind of beach do you like? Waves? No waves? I like the waves. I love the Pacific Ocean. :)

Welcome back visitors for yet another pot of freshly brewed hot blog copy, using homegrown partially recycled pure grounds. Whatever that means.

Blog copy. Try saying that ten times fast.

I wanted to start off by saying I’ve had a few readers who have been such loyal blog followers leaving comments, hitting the facebook ‘like’ button, encouraging me.

I thank you for being my constant inspiration. Believe it or not, some of you wonderful readers have sent me long inspiring letters AND super cool REAL presents. That’s just too cool.

Like This!

Now my readers are going to ask What does blog copy mean? Then they are going to ask me what fresh brewed has to do with blog copy. I’ll have to send them to an expert because I have no idea.

Bwah ha ha

I’m digging myself quickly into a hole on this post. I can feel it spiraling down.  I still have friends who don’t know what blog means.

Note to self.  Should I start calling it an online journal?

❀ I know you are there. I can see you and it makes me happy and sad all at the same time.

❀ It's okay to take a break. ❀

1. I love my readers. Some of them I have known for ages and others are new. They continue to inspire me to write.

They tell me nice things like you never know Julie, maybe you will make someone’s lives better. They say things like they love to read my blog. I don’t know if that counts though because it was probably my mom. ;)

2. I love writing. To me writing gets my thoughts on the page and out of my head. Yesterday while shopping with my kids I sat down and wrote a list of 15 things I had to do. I felt overwhelmed and getting my list on the page made me feel like I could accomplish it. I’m just taking baby steps one at a time. Stay with me folks.

3. The more I give the more I receive. My friendships have been growing steadily and so is my reader base. I feel like I have never learned so much about life, love, laughter and people as I have in the last couple of months since sharing my life with others.

I had a lot of fears to overcome. I think we all get used to talking to our inner circle of friends or to ourselves we think that if we wrote it for all the world to see we would be drastically made fun of.

4. My learning curve is out of control. The minute I hit the publish button on my first blog entry most of you know I couldn’t sleep. I thought, Oh great, delete, delete, delete. My husband is currently worried about me because it has been almost all consuming.

I just read. I want to know what makes a blog successful so I just click away. Luckily I’ve been super peaceful and smiling.

I'll forgive you. ´¯`»¸¸.·☆

It's a new day and new dawn and I'm feeling good.´¯`»¸¸.·☆

I’m not so certain that spending more time online is a good thing though.

I have always sustained that a to be happy in life you have to find a balance of work and pleasure.

I’ll give you an example. Say you are successful. I ask you how you are spending your days. Are you spending them alone or with other people? What percentage of your time are you dedicating to your family, to your work, to entertainment?

How much of your time are you dedicating towards being a good person, toward helping others? How much of your time are you dedicating toward making yourself a better person?

As my best friend says it’s the doing that makes the difference. In writing and sharing, I’m a do-er not a be-er. Note to self: don’t forget to hyphenated the word be-er.

This chick is so cool. She's thinking about you. ❀

I can see you. Just tell me everything is going to be okay. It will! ´¯`»¸¸.·☆

5. People are curious. I think one of the reasons people are reading this now is because they want to know what it is like to live in Italy. I think I should write more about that. I’ll tell you. I spend a lot of time with my family, cleaning, cooking, writing, drawing,  a lot of time with my friends – as much as possible and the major part of my time taking care of life.

6. I push myself to succeed. I strive for excellence. I strive for peace. I model good behavior. I strive to be a better person. I’m crazy scared that I’m going to bomb in front of all of my peers so I’m doing all I can do to make this great.

I know it’s not. But like I tell my kids, I’m not a great mom, I’m not even a good mom, but I do try. I make it a goal. I know they know that. Making it a goal shows you care. I tell them I love them every day so many times. They know the story because I tell it to them every night before they go to bed.

I tell them I love them more than the moon, more than the stars, and more than all of the oceans.

Tell people you love that you love them. I don’t think you can ever say that enough. Be the change you want to see. Be inspiring. You think you don’t know how? I’ll give you a start. Smile at someone you don’t know. Live your life with passion. Pursue excellence. Take care of yourselves.

Until we blog again. Uh hmm, I mean journal. Have a good one.

Julie, I love your paintings, but I don’t know much about art. Me neither! I just like pretty pictures. There’s really not too much of a mystery to it. You just put a nail on a wall then hang the picture and enjoy.

Where do you think your painting would look good? I think these would look cute just about anywhere. You could hang it in your living room, bedroom or even kitchen.

What I would love to do is give one to a friend who isn’t well to cheer her up.

That’s why I particularly like flowers. I think these would look great in a restaurant, lobby, doctor’s office or hallway. Where do you think these pictures could be shown? My mom says in an art gallery or restaurant. She says I need to organize an exhibit.  I agree.

Thank you for visiting and participating. Good luck.

The painting you see is the one that I entered the contest in in our local town. It was a funny day actually. The way it works is you have to stop by in the morning with a piece of paper, pay the entry fee, I think about $10, and the nice people put a stamp on the back showing it’s a new paper.

Then you have until 3.30 to turn in your finished piece.

The only problem I encountered was time. I had lunch plans that day with my family out of town. At 2p I said I had better get busy.

I flew into my garden, grabbed my paints and started painting. The blank canvas was TRULY overwhelming.

I loved what I painted however. It’s just Italy, porticoes, wine, a table, you know, a swimming pool street.

I won a prize and was honored. When I turned in my painting, it was still wet. I drove to the center of town holding my painting up to my car heater. I signed it right after I parked.

The only catch was I had to give it to the city hall. I’m happy to have done so. I hope you enjoy it.

This is my idea for my flower painting give away. I’m going to make a little video when I get my hair decent, and show you four new paintings I made. Then you will just choose the one you like, leave a comment and I’ll pick a winner. That should work, right?
